CSCvw84966 | ONS-SE-155-1510 SFP shows no PID, VID, HW PN, CLEI Code in inventory when plugged in legacy TNC |
A limited number of ONS-SE-155-1510 small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers do not display the Product Identifier (PID), Version Identifier (VID), Hardware Partnumber (HW PN), and Common Language Equipment Identifier (CLEI) Code in Inventory when plugged into these Cisco ONS15454 Transport Node Controllers: 15454-M-TNC-K9=, 15454-M-TSC-K9=, 15454-M-TNCE-K9=, and 15454-M-TSCE-K9=.
The SFP transceiver does display the correct information when plugged into these Cisco NCS 2000 Series Transport Controllers: NCS2K-TNCS-2O-K9= and NCS2K-TNCS-2-K9=.
A limited number of ONS-SE-155-1510 SFP transceivers, while being programmed, had some shift in the reserved parameters in the EEPROM registers. This caused a conflict with the Controller Software code, which resulted in the incorrect display of these four fields: PID, VID, HW PN, and CLEI Code.
The ONS-SE-155-1510 SFP transceiver plugged into the Cisco ONS15454 Transport Node Controllers 15454-M-TNC-K9=, 15454-M-TSC-K9=, 15454-M-TNCE-K9=, 15454-M-TSCE-K9=, and Cisco NCS 2000 Series Transport Controllers NCS2K-TNCS-O-K9= and NCS2K-TNCS-K9=, will display this log message in the TL1 output.
TL1 Output Example:
"PPM-1-1-1,OC3-FE-LR-2-1510nm::PN=,HWREV=01,FWREV=\"N/A\",SN=OPM24xxxxxx,CLEI=,PID=\"????????????????????\",VID=\"????\",ACTUALCARDNAME=\"????????????????????\""
The SFP transceiver will work even if the four Inventory fields mentioned in the Problem Description section are displayed incorrectly.
Cisco recommends this solution:
ONS-SE-155-1510 SFP transceiver used in 15454-M-TNC-K9=, 15454-M-TSC-K9=, 15454-M-TNCE-K9=, 15454-M-TSCE-K9=, NCS2K-TNCS-K9=, and NCS2K-TNCS-O-K9=:
The inventory mismatch can be ignored if not required. The inventory information, if required, is available on the SFP transceiver label as shown in the How to Identify Affected Products section.
If the four Inventory field values are required, submit a Return Material Authorization (RMA) for the SFP transceiver replacement.
ONS-SE-155-1510 SFP transceiver used in NCS2K-TNCS-2-K9= or NCS2K-TNCS-2O-K9:
No action to be taken as the four Inventory fields are correctly displayed.
Only ONS-SE-155-1510 units that start with serial number OPM24xxxxx are affected.
A representation of the SFP transceiver that shows the position of the labels (serial number, PID, VID, HW PN, and CLEI code) is shown here.
