Problem Description
A new solid state drive (SSD) component has been introduced on Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS) 560 Series Routers. If a router with the new SSD is running a Cisco IOS XR Software release earlier than Release 7.10.1 and does not have an appropriate SMU (Software Maintenance Upgrade) installed, an error message may be displayed during the SSD field programmable device (FPD) upgrade.
Background
A new SSD component has been introduced on Cisco NCS 560 routers to address the end of life of the current SSD component version.
Problem Symptom
The console may generate the following failure logs for the output of the command show hw-module fpd:

Workaround/Solution
Details about the SSD vendor can be determined from the instructions provided in the How to Identify Affected Products section of this field notice.
Cisco highly recommends installation of the SMU by February 28, 2025 on Cisco NCS 560 Series Routers that are running a Cisco IOS XR Software release earlier than Release 7.10.1. The new SSDs are planned to ship from manufacturing beginning March 2025. The fix is incorporated from base releases 7.10.2 and later.

How to Identify Affected Products
To determine the details of the SSD that is on the device, do the following steps.
First, put the router console prompt in sysadmin VM prompt.

Cisco recommends installing the SMU or upgrading to Cisco IOS XR Software Release 7.10.2 or later if the output of the command is any of the following:
