This document discusses the Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) implementation options for the Cisco DSL Router acting as a PPPoE client.

Select one of these PPPoE implementation options for your Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) service. Both implementation options include configuration examples for Network Address Translation (NAT) overload, NAT Pool, Static NAT, and Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) Server.
Select the implementation that describes the type of PPPoE service your ISP provides.
PPPoE Cisco DSL Router Client Option 1—Your ISP assigns a single dynamic public IP address to your Cisco DSL Router.
PPPoE Cisco DSL Router Client Option 2—Your ISP assigns a single static public IP address to your Cisco DSL Router.
