Introduction
This document describes the recovery procedure to be followed when the admin password is lost.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:
- Cisco Firepower Extensible Operating System (FXOS)
- Password-recovery requires serial console access and the ability to power-on the FPR 2100 device.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on FPR 2100 series version 1.0.00 or higher.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, ensure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Background Information
The current FXOS version reimages the box when this flow is invoked. All configuration data can be lost. To factory reset the device, connect to FXOS and local-mgmt and issue erase configuration.
Procedure
Step 1. Power-cycle the Firepower21xx device. You have 10 seconds to interrupt the ROMMON default boot sequence with a press of the ESC key.

After the appliance is rebooted, use the default credentials admin/Admin123 to connect, once the log in prompt is available. The same credentials can be used once Firepower Device Manager (FDM) and Firepower Chassis Manager (FCM) are ready.
