Configuring Bonjour on the SG350XG and SG550XG

Objective

Bonjour is a technology by Apple that allows devices on the same network to discover and connect to each other without any additional configuration. The SG350XG and SG550XG switches are able to broadcast Bonjour Discovery packets that advertise the services they provide. These advertisements can be read by other devices on the network, such as network management tools or third-party applications.

The objective of this document is to show you how to enable Bonjour on the SG350XG and SG550XG.

Enabling Bonjour

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Administration > Discover -€“ Bonjour. The Discover - Bonjour page opens.

Step 2. In the Discovery field, check the Enable checkbox to enable Bonjour discovery globally.

Step 3. Click Apply. The running configuration file is updated.

Step 4. The Bonjour Discovery Interface Control Table displays the interfaces on which Bonjour is enabled. To add an interface, click the Add button. The Add Bonjour Discovery Interface Control window opens.

Step 5.Select the desired radio button in the Interface field to select the type of interface you want to add to the table, then select the interface from the respective drop-down list.

Step 6. Click Apply. The specified interface is added to the Bonjour Discovery Interface Control table.

Step 7. To delete an entry from the table, check its checkbox and click the Delete button.

Conclusion

The instructions in this article will let you globally enable or disable Bonjour on the switch. Note that even if Bonjour is globally enabled, only interfaces in the Bonjour Discovery Interface Control table will advertise with Bonjour.
