The 802.1x standard uses Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) encapsulation over Local Area Networks (EAPOL). A time range specifies the time period during which 802.1x is active on 802.1x enabled ports. These ports are inactive outside of the specified time range.
The objective of this article is to explain how to configure the time range on 802.1x ports on SG500X Series Stackable Switches.
To complete the Time Range configuration:
1. Configure Recurring Range, which is detailed in the article Configuration of Recurring Range for 802.1x on SG500X Series Switches.
2. Configure Port Settings, which is detailed in the article, Configure Port Settings on Sx500 Series Stackable Switches for this configuration.
Note : In order to ensure that the time range entries take effect at the desired time, the software clock should be set by the user or by the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP). Failure to set the software clock in this way can cause the time range to be inaccurate.
