LLDP-MED is very similar to the Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP). It has basic discovery capabilities that allow it to see information about devices that it is connected to. LLDP-MED allows the device to determine the capabilities that the connected device supports such as LAN speed, network policy, location identification, power, inventory, and trust extensions.
This document explains how to enable the LLDP-MED on the SPA 300 and 500 series.

Step 1. Press the Setup icon.
Step 2. Navigate to Settings and press Select using the soft-key.
Step 3. Navigate to Network Configuration and press Select using the soft-key.
Step 4. Navigate to Enable LLDP-MED and press Select using the soft-key.
Note: Press **# to unlock or lock certain edit options on the phone.
Step 5. Press Edit to change the status of LLDP-MED.
Step 6. Press Y/N to toggle between Yes and No to enable or disable the LLDP-MED.
Step 7. Press OK to save the changes.
