A Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) is a group of devices on one or more LANs that are configured logically so that they can communicate as if they were physically connected to each other. Members of a VLAN can only communicate with other members of the same VLAN.
This article explains how to make the SPA8000 Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA) a member of a VLAN.

Step 1. Log in the web configuration utility as an administrator and choose Advanced > Network > WAN Status. The WAN Status page opens:
Step 2. Scroll down to the VLAN Settings area.
Step 2. Choose Yes from the Enable VLAN drop-down list to allow the SPA8000 to access a VLAN.
Note: Choose Yes if you want the device to connect to a specific VLAN. This VLAN has to be tagged, otherwise the device will work in the default VLAN.
Step 3. Enter the VLAN ID that you would like to assign to the SPA8000 in the VLAN ID field. The VLAN ID defines which VLAN the SPA8000 belongs to.The VLAN ID it has to be entered in hexadecimal .
Step 4. Choose the status that you would like to assign to the CDP from the Enable CDP drop-down list. Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) allows Cisco products to share information with other Cisco products to which they are directly connected.
Step 5. Click Submit All Changes to save the settings.
