General Purpose Parameters (GPP) are used as free string registers when configuring the phone adapter device to interact with a particular provisioning server solution. The GPP are used for the administrator to control the configuration in the device and make the configuration less vulnerable to an external attack when the device is connected with the provisioning server. A provisioning server is used for the process of synchronization or configuration of the device with a remote server. This is very useful for the administrator because makes short work of tasks that would otherwise require administrators to use manual spreadsheets to track servers and their conditions. Server provisioning solutions show the status, configuration, availability and general health of servers in snapshot views, simplifying complex operations. This document outlines the procedures to configure General Purpose Parameters (GPP) on the SPA8000 Phone Adapter.
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility as an administrator and choose Advanced > Voice > Provisioning. The Provisioning page opens:
The GPP are entered in the General Purpose parameters area at the bottom of the page.
Step 2. In the corresponding GPP fields, enter the string which you wish to assign as the values for that variable.
Note: These strings are used by an administrator in a provisioning server to give the device an authentication for the services that are going to be used for the device. These strings can be encryption keys, URLs, status of information in the provisioning server, map for the alias in the device, etc. Combinations of different strings can also be used.
Step 3. Click Submit All Changes.
