The Firmware Upgrade in the SPA100 Series Analog Telephone Adapter is used to improve the performance of the device and keep it up to date.
The objective of this document is to explain how to configure the Firmware Upgrade in the SPA100 Series Analog Telephone Adapter.

Step 1. Access the Cisco web page and download the latest firmware version. This comes in a .Zip file.
Step 2. Log into the Phone Adapter Configuration Utility page and choose Administration > Firmware Upgrade. The Firmware Upgrade page opens:
Step 3. Click Choose File to select the .Zip update file from your computer.
Step 4. Click .bin from the .Zip file
Step 5. Click Upgrade.
A warning message appears during firmware upgrade:
Step 6. The firmware updates successfully and a message appears notifying that the SPA122 will restart.
Step 7. The user is sent back to the Login page where the username and password fields are required.
Step 8. After the firmware is successfully updated, log into the Phone Adapter Configuration Utility page and choose Voice > Provisioning. The Provisioning page opens:
Step 9. Scroll down to the Firmware Upgrade area.
Step 10. Choose "yes" from the Upgrade Enable drop-down list to enable firmware upgrade operations.
Step 11. Enter a value in the Upgrade Error Retry Delay field, to set the retry interval in the case of a failed upgrade attempt. The default value is 3600 seconds.
Step 12. Enter a value in the Downgrade Rev Limit field. This enforces a lower limit on the acceptable version number during a firmware upgrade or downgrade. The default setting is empty.
Note: In order to complete the firmware upgrade operation the firmware version should be greater than or equal to this field.
Step 13. Enter a value in the Upgrade Rule field. This parameter defines upgrade conditions and associated firmware URLs. The default setting is empty.
Step 14. Enter a value for the Log Upgrade Request Msg field. This is the syslog message issued at the start of a firmware upgrade attempt.
Step 15. Enter a value for the Log Upgrade Success Msg field. This is the syslog message issued after a firmware upgrade attempt completes successfully.
Step 16. Enter a value for the Log Upgrade Failure Msg field. This is the syslog message issued after a failed firmware upgrade attempt.
Step 17. The License Keys field is not currently used by the SPA100 Series ATAs.
Step 18. Click Submit to save the settings.
