Initial Setup to Connect SPA100 Series

Objective

The SPA122 comes with an Ethernet port. In contrast, the SPA112 doesn't come with an Ethernet port, only a WAN port for Internet connection. Both of them have a very similar way of setup. This article explains the initial setup of how to connect the device with cables so it can be accessed.

Initial Setup

SPA112

Step 1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the INTERNET port on the device to a broadband network device.

Step 2. Connect a phone cable from the PHONE 1 port on the device to an analog phone.

Step 3. Connect a phone cable from the PHONE 2 port on the device to another analog phone.

Step 4. Connect the power adapter from the Power port on the device to a power outlet.

Step 5. Power on the device to access the configuration utility for further changes.

SPA122

Step 1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the INTERNET port on the device to a broadband network device.

Step 2. Connect a phone cable from the PHONE 1 port on the device to an analog phone.

Step 3. Connect a phone cable from the PHONE 2 port on the device to another analog phone.

Step 4. (Optional) Connect an Ethernet network cable from the ETHERNET port on the device to another device on the network.

Step 5. Connect the power adapter from the Power port on the device to a power outlet.

Step 6. Power on the device to access the configuration utility for further changes.
