This article explains how to copy and save the configuration files within the WAP551 and WAP561 Access Points. For example, the Startup Configuration can be copied to the Backup Configuration to save a copy in the NVRAM (permanent memory) as a backup.
• WAP551
• WAP561
• v1.0.4.2
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Administration > Copy/Save Configuration. The Copy/Save Configuration page opens:
• Startup Configuration — The configuration file saved to flash memory or the NVRAM. The contents of the startup config are retained after a reboot and used at bootup.
• Backup Configuration — A copy of configuration file that is saved on the WAP as a backup.
• Mirror Configuration — An automatically saved copy of the Startup Configuration that is saved if Startup Configuration is not modified for at least 24 hours. When a Mirror Configuration file is saved, a log message with severity alert is generated to indicate that a new Mirror Configuration is available. If the access point is rebooted, the Mirror Configuration file is reset to the factory default parameters. If a factory reset is done however, Mirror Configuration is not lost.
Step 3. For the Destination File Name field, click one of the configuration file radio buttons.
• Startup Configuration — Startup Configuration file is overwritten with the chosen source configuration file.
• Backup Configuration — Backup Configuration file is overwritten with the chosen source configuration file.
Step 4. Click Save to save the settings.
