Associated Client Statistics on WAP551 and WAP561 Access Points

Objective

The associated clients statistics displays the current clients along with information of packet traffic transmitted and received for each client. It also provides information such as the dropped packets and bytes. The information about associated clients is used to know what network the client is connected to and through what interface the client is connected.

This article shows the clients associated on the WAP551 and WAP561 access points.

Associated Client Statistics

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Status and Statistics > Associated Clients. The Associated Clients page opens:

The following fields are displayed in the Associated Clients Table.

• Network Interface — The Virtual Access Point (VAP) the client is associated with. 

• Station — The MAC address of the associated wireless client. 

• Status — The 802.11 authentication and association status. This is present no matter which type of security the client uses to connect to the access point.

– Authenticated — This field shows whether the client is authenticated by the WAP or not. 

– Associated — This field shows whether the client is associated with the SSID of the WAP or not. 

• From Station — The number of packets and bytes received from the wireless client and the number of packets and bytes that were dropped after being received.

– Packets — The number of packets received from the wireless client. 

– Bytes — The number of bytes received from the wireless client. 

– Drop Packets — The number of packets dropped. 

– Drop Bytes  — The number of bytes dropped. 

– TS Violate Packets — The number of packets sent from a client station to the WAP that exceeds the normal uplink bandwidth for which the client has not been admitted. 

• To Station — The number of packets and bytes transmitted from the access point to the client and the number of packets and bytes that were dropped after being transmitted.

– Packets  — The number of packets received from the WAP.

– Bytes — The number of bytes received from the WAP.

– Drop Packets — The number of packets dropped. 

– Drop Bytes  — The number of bytes dropped. 

– TS Violate Packets  — The number of packets sent from the WAP to the client that exceeds the normal downlink bandwidth for which the WAP has not been admitted. 

• Up Time — The length of time since the wireless client was first associated with the access point.

 Step 2. (Optional) To update the page with current information of the associated clients, click Refresh.
