Introduction
This document describes how to prevent the display of an old, cached contact photo on Jabber.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of the topic Jabber for Windows.
Components Used
The information in this document is based on Jabber for Windows Release 9.x.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Background Information
The Jabber client is currently unable to dynamically update the contact image. Once the images are retrieved, they are stored locally.
Photos are cached in this location:
Windows Version 7/Vista:
C:\Users\<userid>\App Data\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Photos
Windows Version XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Photos
Problem
Cisco Jabber for Windows Client does not automatically update contact picture which has been updated in Active Directory (AD). Since the contact list images are cached locally on the PC, when the image is updated in AD the user's old image still displays in contact list.
Solution
- Exit Cisco Jabber and ensure jabber.exe does not run in Task Manager.
- Delete the locally cached images in this location:
Windows Version 7/Vista:
C:\Users\<userid>\App Data\Local\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Photos
Windows Version XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\Cisco\Unified Communications\Jabber\CSF\Photos
- Launch Cisco Jabber and log in. The latest contact image is retreived.
