Software Features Introduced in Cisco IOS XR Software Release 6.1.4
No new software features are introduced in this release. However, this release supports software features released untill Cisco IOS XR Release 6.1.3
-
Support for polling the Inphi Firmware version through SNMP is introduced.
-
Support for Global MACsec protocol shutdown is introduced. This feature reverts MacSec fallback key without any packet loss.
-
A new show-tech custom [source-file] command is introduced in this release. This command executes list of commands specified in the source file and collects debugging information.
A source file is user defined file in text format and must contain diagnostics commands. In absence of the source file, the command executes general health check commands present in the default directory (for example, general.tech).
-
iBGP multihop can now form a peer relationship with an interface over default or static route.
-
A new alarm is supported to indicate when the fabric plane or multicast is down.
-
LLDP is supported on the management interface. You must configure lldp management enable command in LLDP config mode to enable LLDP support on the management interface.
-
MACSec Always Negotiated Fallback key option is introduced.
-
The maximum number of bundles supported on NCS 5500 is 256 bundles. Prior to this release NCS 5500 supported only 128 bundles.

Caveats
Caveats describe unexpected behavior in Cisco IOS XR Software releases.
The following open caveats apply to the current Cisco IOS XR Software Release
ID |
Description |
---|---|
Deletion of one interface in a bundle results in exponential increase of multicast traffic |
|
V4/V6 l2 to l3 traffic drop due to BVI adj pointing to glean state |
|
CSCve68425 |
Interface's on bundles takes time to come up after Shut/No shut |
Upgrading Cisco IOS XR Software
Cisco IOS XR Software is installed and activated from modular packages, allowing specific features or software patches to be installed, upgraded, or downgraded without affecting unrelated processes. Software packages can be upgraded or downgraded on all supported card types, or on a single card (node).
Other Important Information
-
The total number of bridge-domains (2*BDs) and GRE tunnels put together should not exceed 1518.
Here the number 1518 represents the multi-dimensional scale value.
-
The offline diagnostics functionality is not supported in NCS 5500 platform. Therefore, the hw-module service offline location command will not work. However, you can use the (sysadmin)# hw-module shutdown location command to bring down the LC.
