About Cisco SAE GUI

The SAE GUI is installed on NSO. The GUI makes it fast and easy for you to design your services, create service catalogs, and deploy services.

What's New in SAE GUI 2.2.0

2.2.0 comes with these major features:

  • ACI Support in GUI: The SAE GUI now supports the ACI interface.

    • You can now add ACI Interface Type, under Global > Settings > SAE Settings.

    • Under Site > Add, if ACI Fabric is checked, you will have to add values to the mandatory fields ACI Controller and Router ID Pool.

    • Depending on the values selected for ACI Controller and Router ID Pool, values of the Leaf Switches on the central pane will be displayed.

    • Discovery pop-up will have all the fields except IP Address and Switch Authgroup

      • When the site will have the Switch Type as aci-switch, only ACI related fields will be shown on the Discovery pop up.

      • OK button will be enabled when all the mandatory fields are added.

      • When you click OK button to discover, Type and APIC-Controller properties will be added based on the data configured at site infrastructure.

      • When the discovery will be successful/failure, pop up with success/error message will be displayed.

  • Live Image Recovery: You can now move VNF from Local storage to Gluster Storage by providing edit options for deployment.

    • New menu Migrate to Gluster is available on the Settings icon under Site > Selected Tenant > Service Deployment: Gateways, Consumer Half Chains, Provider Half Chains, End to End Chains

    • The menu will be displayed when the following criteria's are met:

      • While creating the Service Chain Instance, selected service chain should have at least one VNF

      • Gateways/Chains has to be successfully deployed or in Reached state

      • VNF Config of Virtual Service Instance's used in Service Chain Instance should have a local storage

    • When you click on the Migrate to Gluster menu, Migrate to Gluster form opens in the right pane.

    • Choose the Service Chain Instance deployment option from the dropdown.

    • Click on Migrate button.

    • When the action will be successful/failure, pop up with success/failure message will be displayed.


    Note

  • Support for RESTCONF: The SAE GUI can now communicate to RESTCONF APIs with NSO.

  • SAE GUI Supports Dynamic Day 0 File Generation: The SAE GUI now supports Dynamic Day 0 file generation.

    • You can create day0 files for CSR, ASA and PAFW EndPoint-Gateway and Half Chain with single VNF on NSO file system.

    • Generated day0 content will be sent to SAEUI on request for editing/viewing the content.

    • Modified day0 content will be saved on NSO file system.

Enable/Disable Monitor on VNF

  • In the plan status graph, when you click on any VNF, it opens a pop up that has Power On/Off icon on the header.

    • Green colour indicates Enable

    • Gray colour indicates Disable

  • Settings menu shows the following options for enable/disable of VNF:

    • Enable Monitor on ESC

    • Disable Monitor on ESC

Power On/Off for VNF

This feature has been added to monitor VNF on GUI.

  • In the plan status graph, when you click on any VNF, a pop up will open. On the pop up window Power On/Off icon is added on the header.

Bulk Import/Export of Connections

This feature allows you to import and export in bulk the Connections configurations in XML and JSON format using the import and export button.

  • Under Site > Selected Tenant > Service Deployment: Conections.

Bulk Import/Export of Endpoints

This feature lets you import/export endpoints as XML and JSON files to create a backup of your endpoints.

  • Import Endpoints: The functionality to import configurations in bulk is available using the Import Endpoint button under Site > Selected Tenant > Service Deployment

  • Export Endpoints: The functionality to export configurations in bulk is available using the Export Endpoint button.

  • Under Site > Selected Tenant > Service Deployment: Import Endpoints, Export Endpoints

Service Chain Enhanced for NSD Group

This feature allows you to create or select the Service Chain group name on the Add/Edit/CopyEdit Service Chain screen.

  • New Service Chain that you create will be added to the Default Service Chain group.

  • Card view displayed will be according to the groups you have defined.

Chain Creation and Card View Enhanced for Service Chain Instance

The Service Chain Instance has been enhanced with

  • Text box Service Chain Instance Name to filter the chains based on the values entered during chain creation in right pane.

  • Under Site > Selected Tenant > Service Deployment: Gateways, Consumer Half Chains, Provider Half Chains, End to End Chains

  • Card View of the Service Chain Instance will be displayed according to the grouped Service Chain name under each Catalog.

NSO Information Enhanced

This feature provides the option to view the license summary on the NSO Info pop up. On the homepage, when you click on the username dropdown and choose NSO Info option, NSO Information pop up opens which displays three tabs HA Info, License Summary and Packages.

  • By default, the HA Info tab will be selected, which displays the NSO and HA Info.

  • The second tab License Summary will display the license summary in read-only format.

  • The Package tab will display the list of packages loaded on the NSO Server along with the version and status.

    • On the UP column the green check mark will indicate the package is running.

    • Three dashes will indicate the failed status of the package .

All Edit Screens Enhanced with Export button

Export button is now available on all Edit screens on the GUI. The following screen has been enhanced:

  • Under Service Design: Virtual Service, Service Chain, Physical Service

  • Under Service Catalog: Catalog, Virtual Service Instance, Service Chain Instance, Physical Service Instance, Server Profile and Organization

  • Under Global: IP Address Pool, ID Pool

List View of Virtual Service Instance and Physical Service Instance Enhanced

The list view has been enhanced by combining the two tabs of Virtual Service Instance i.e. (Virtual Service Instance and Virtual Service Config) and Physical Service Instance i.e. (Physical Service Instance and Physical Service Config) into single detailed tab.

  • By default, the Settings column has been hidden. To view, click the Select Columns dropdown and check the Type-Settings checkbox.

  • Columns added for Physical Service Instance are as follows: Name, Physical Service, Physical Config, Mode and Day-1.

Virtual Service Instance Support Two File Import

This feature has been enhanced to support import of two files.

You can import export both the files i.e., VNF Config and VNFDD from the Service Catalog > Virtual Service Instance. You will have to follow the below procedure to import the files :

  • First import the VNF Config file. The VNF Config will be created in the NSO backend then import the Virtual Service Instance file. If the VNF Config exists in the NSO backend then you can only import the Virtual Service Instance file. On successful import the instance will be displayed on the card view.

  • If the VNF Config instance is not present in the Virtual Service Instance file, error message Invalid Value for VNF Config will be displayed.

  • If VNF Config and Virtual Service Instance file are already present in the NSO backend then while importing error message Object already exists will be displayed.

List View for APIC Devices Enhanced

This feature lets you view the APIC Devices Add/Edit fields as columns.

Enhanced APIC Devices Add Screen

The GUI has been enhanced for the APIC devices.

  • Under Global > Devices > Add Devices opens. On clicking the APIC Devices checkbox, by default filter for Ned ID will be selected as cisco-apicdc-xxxxx which will display the following fields: Connection-Timeout, Read-Timeout, Write-Timeout, Out-Of-Sync-Commit- Behaviour and Ned Settings section.

    • Under Ned Settings section following fields will be displayed: Log Verbose, Config Path, Local Host, Host, User Name, User Password, Disable Check Sync, Ignore Passwords, Eabbl-I3ExtOut-CFG-Split and Alterative Hosts.

APIC Devices Allocated to Site

This feature allows you to view the APIC devices site name on the Device table if it has been used in any site.

  • Under Global > Devices

Device Table Enhanced to Edit APIC Devices

This feature lets you edit the APIC devices on the Device table.

  • Under Global > Devices

  • On Edit column only APIC devices will show the edit icon

  • Edit popup will show the following editable fields: Connect-Timeout, Read-Timeout, Out-Of-Sync-Commit-Behaviour and Ned Settings

  • Cancel button in the confirmation pop up will cancel the action.

  • Ok button in the confirmation pops up will update the selected fields

Known Behavior

Release 2.2.0

  • When you add new Device and click on OK button, Device Response pop up will open. If you click on the OK button of the pop up before reaching the final stage i.e., Device Sync In Progress and the screen goes blank, then you will have to logout and login again.
