Reason for Advisory:
This software deferral addresses one software issue.
CSCvm97558
storfs restarted due to Out of Memory
Affected Platforms:
Cisco HyperFlex Systems running the following software versions
HyperFlex HX Data Platform Releases: 3.0(1a), 3.0(1b), 3.0(1c), 3.0(1d), 3.0(1e), 3.0(1h)
Symptom:
The HyperFlex controller VM restarts and a ‘Out of memory’ stack trace is seen in /var/log/kern.log
Conditions:
Controller VM is initially at the high end of memory consumption when the nightly ASUP causes the cluster to temporarily become unhealthy due to a large spike in memory usage.
Workaround:
Recommended - Upgrade HX Data Platform to Release 3.0(1i).
Optional - In case you see the issue and an upgrade cannot be done immediately, disable HTTPS based nightly ASUP collection using the following command
(From a SSH session to the controller)
# stcli services sch disable
After subsequent upgrade to release 3.0(1i), enable ASUP using the following command:
# stcli services sch enable
