Cisco HyperFlex Data Platform
|
Version: HyperFlex Data Platform (HXDP) versions prior to 2.5(1a), including: 1.7, 1.8, 2.0, and 2.1 major releases.
|
HXDP 1.8(1a)-1.8(1e) clusters may be upgraded by stepping through HXDP 2.6(1e). All other pre-2.5(1a) clusters must follow the upgrades path described in Cisco HyperFlex Systems Upgrade Guide for Unsupported Cisco HX Release
|
Reason for Advisory:
This advisory serves to direct HyperFlex customers to the proper procedures for upgrading clusters running older versions of software. The HyperFlex 2.6(1e) upgrade bundle available for download on Cisco.com is only to be used for customers currently on HyperFlex Data Platform versions 1.8(1a), 1.8(1b), 1.8(1c), 1.8(1d) or 1.8(1e). Customers running any other version should reference the upgrade
documentation, specifically https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/hyperconverged_systems/HyperFlex_HX_DataPlatformSoftware/HyperFlex_upgrade_guide/b-upgrading-unsupported-hx-releases.html and should not use the 2.6(1e) upgrade file.
For customers on the HXDP versions 1.8(1a) - 1.8(1e), the 2.6(1e) upgrade package is provided as an intermediate release on the path to the latest long-lived, recommended HXDP release. This upgrade package is not to be used as a final target version for any HyperFlex cluster. Instead, use it only temporarily on the upgrade path to the correct and final HyperFlex Data Platform version. It is recommended to upgrade to the final desired HXDP version as soon as possible after upgrading to 2.6(1e). Cisco TAC will only provide support for this 2.6(1e) release on an interim basis to help ensure HyperFlex clusters are fully upgraded to the final desired version.

Upgrade Guidelines for HyperFlex Clusters Running Versions Older than 2.5(1a)
Affected Hardware Platforms:
HX220C-M4S
HXAF220C-M4
HX240C-M4SX
HXAF240C-M4SX
Symptom: This defect is a placeholder for a software advisory on how to upgrade HyperFlex clusters older than version 2.5(1a).
Conditions: HXDP major version 1.7, 1.8, 2.0, 2.1
Workaround: For the major versions listed above, https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/hyperconverged_systems/HyperFlex_HX_DataPlatformSoftware/HyperFlex_upgrade_guide/b-upgrading-unsupported-hx-releases.html should be closely followed. Some upgrades require an intermediate release before being able to upgrade to the latest long-lived HXDP version. Consult the guide for full details.
Only HXDP versions 1.8(1a) – 1.8(1e) should utilize the 2.6(1e) upgrade package available for download on Cisco.com.
More Info: For guidance on the recommended long-lived HXDP version to upgrade to, follow the instructions for identifying the suggested release as outlined in the appendix of the https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/hyperconverged_systems/HyperFlex_HX_DataPlatformSoftware/HyperFlex_upgrade_guide/b-upgrading-unsupported-hx-releases.html
