Audience for This Guide
System Manager's Guide for Cisco MeetingPlace for Cisco IP Phone Release 4.2.5 is for Cisco IP phone System Managers that are familiar with networking and IP telephony concepts and have an understanding of how Cisco CallManager operates on the company network.
Scope of This Guide
System Manager's Guide for Cisco MeetingPlace for Cisco IP Phone Release 4.2.5 provides information about the following topics:
•
Installing and configuring Release 4.2.5.
•
Configuring the following Release 4.2.5 components: Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing and Cisco CallManager.
•
Using Release 4.2.5 with the Cisco IP Phone 7960 (Cisco IP phone).
This guide does not provide information about installing and configuring Cisco CallManager or Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing for your network. To located information about those products, see the list of documents in the "Additional References" section.

Before you install and configure Release 4.2.5, you should understand the following concepts:

Cisco MeetingPlace for Cisco IP Phone Features
Release 4.2.5 integrates with Cisco MeetingPlace and Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing to schedule meetings and distribute meeting notifications. Once installed and configured, Release 4.2.5 enables Cisco IP phone users to perform the following tasks:
•
Schedule immediate or future Cisco MeetingPlace meetings
•
Attend Cisco MeetingPlace meetings
•
Find meetings that are scheduled today or tomorrow
•
Delete meetings that are scheduled tomorrow
•
Request Cisco MeetingPlace system outdials, as shown in Figure 1-1

Cisco MeetingPlace for Cisco IP Phone Components
Release 4.2.5 comprises the following components:
•
Cisco MeetingPlace conference server to schedule and confirm meetings
•
Cisco IP phone to access the Cisco MeetingPlace service
•
Cisco MeetingPlace IP Gateway to perform IP call setup and teardown for the Cisco MeetingPlace conference server
•
Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server to provide access to installed XML phone pages and templates
•
Cisco CallManager server to add the Cisco MeetingPlace service for Cisco IP phone users to access

Note
Release 4.2.5 is deployed by using the HTTP protocol from standard web servers, such as Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
Cisco MeetingPlace for IP Phone Schedule and Attend Process
When Cisco IP phone users schedule meetings, the scheduling requests are sent to the Cisco MeetingPlace Web Conferencing server, which then passes the request to the Cisco MeetingPlace system, as shown in . If resources are available for requested meeting times, the Cisco MeetingPlace system schedules the meetings and sends the meeting information to schedulers.
