SDAネイティブマルチキャストはオーバーレイマルチキャストの一種で、ファブリックデバイス間でマルチキャストトラフィックを伝送し、マルチキャストトラフィックを別のマルチキャストグループにカプセル化するために使用されます。ネイティブマルチキャストでは、同じVLANまたは異なるVLANにある送信側と受信側の間でマルチキャストトラフィックをルーティングできます(同じVLANマルチキャストをルーティングできます)。同じファブリックエッジ(FE)上の送信元と受信間のマルチキャストトラフィックは、オーバーレイマルチキャスト(VXLANカプセル化)を使用して転送されませんが、FEによってローカルにルーティングされます。ネイティブマルチキャストでは、224.0.0.0/24または存続可能時間(TTL)=1に一致するグループのマルチキャストトラフィックをルーティングできません。これらはレイヤ2(L2)フラッディングによって処理されます。ネイティブマルチキャストは、任意のソースマルチキャスト(ASM)、Source Specific Multicast(SSM)、またはその両方の組み合わせを転送するように設定できます。ネイティブマルチキャストは、アンダーレイマルチキャストに依存します。
