Cisco and the International Center for Digital Transformation & Digital Skills - DT&S were present at the largest technology exhibition in Greece, Beyond 4.0, which took place at the International Exhibition & Conference Center in Thessaloniki on 29-1 October 2022.

At Cisco's booth, visitors watched presentations of technology solutions and modern applications from executives of the company and its Partners. Visitors could also connect live with the International Center for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills and watch all the solutions implemented by the Center and its Partners. Furthermore, Senior Cisco executives took part in discussions about innovation and technical advancements.

The solutions presented in Beyond 4.0 included digitizing the procedure for collecting cigarette butts for recycling, with the assistance of IoTECH Communications and Cigaret Cycle. This unique program aims to the environmental protection. To maximize collection frequency and prevent any overflow of the bins' capacity, the smart collecting bin features a filling sensor that, using the LoRaWan network, transmits data to a central management program informing on the quantity of cigarettes butts collected. The management program provides the option of showing data on each bin's contribution to the final recycling product over a specified time period as well as the action's environmental impact. Outside the exhibition, thirty special bins—some of which have been upgraded to "smart bins"—were placed to collect visitors' cigarette butts and send them for recycling.

DT&S's collaboration with GRC TECH in the field of electric bicycles and electric skates for the Smart City Project solutions and electric micro-vehicle mobility was one of those presented in the booth. A LoRaWan positioning sensor has been integrated in 5 electric bicycles in Thessaloniki recording their routes through the city. This solution aims to capture the frequency of street traffic and highlight areas where it is most necessary to create new cycle lanes. The same solution will be implemented directly in collaboration with the Panhellenic Association of Paraplegics of Greece, Macedonia Thrace branch for the recording of the routes of wheelchairs and blind people with the installation of LoRaWan positioning sensors.

The museum visitor management system, designed by the International Centre for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills (DT&S), in collaboration with MOMus and implemented by Space Hellas, were also presented in the Cisco booth . Museums today spend energy and money to digitize their cultural assets and make information available to the public using modern display and promotion technologies. Through Cisco's wireless network combined with a real-time precise positioning solution from Wipelot, Space Hellas delivered a system that provides information and analytics on visitor browsing behavior, patterns and trends, number and duration of museum experiences per exhibit, repeat visits, average length of visits per visitor, and peak hours. The information is collected in real-time and accurately using Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, and data visualization and analysis is done through dedicated software. In the future, additional information about the exhibits can be presented using Augmented Reality (AR) technology or QR Codes, while visitors will be able to access the internet directly and securely via the Cisco Wi-Fi network.

Finally, the International Centre for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills in collaboration with ASSETCOM S.A. designed and implemented a Building Energy Monitoring solution. The solution includes the installation and configuration of a system for measuring the consumption of natural resources (water, electricity, gas). The special software, installed on a Cisco 1000 series router, achieves a number of automation activities, offering remote management of both lighting and heating of the building. In keeping with contemporary needs, it is intended to reduce the building's carbon footprint and make daily operations easier.

BEWISE, a Premier Partner of Cisco, was hosted at the Cisco booth. BEWISE is a company specializing in Cybersecurity and Digital Transformation, providing innovative technology solutions that support digital leaps for businesses.
