THESSALONIKI, Greece 3/4/23 – In a significant step toward fostering digital innovation and culture, the International Center for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills (DT&S) held a high-level presentation for Mr. Stylianos Kympouropoulos, Member of the European Parliament. The meeting was part of DT&S's mission to accelerate digital transformation in Greece and in Europe.
DT&S, established in June 2020 by Cisco in collaboration with the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the Ministry of Digital Governance, and the Ministry of Development and Investments, operates under the auspices of the Prime Minister's office in Thessaloniki. The center has been actively promoting innovation and digital skills, providing a collaborative platform for the academic community, startups, and partners to propose digital solutions for various economic and social challenges.
During the presentation, Nikolaos Lambrogeorgos, the Centre’s Director, showcased its expansive scope and a range of fully operational technological solutions designed to address the issues faced by the Greek public sector, administrative divisions, and private companies. Mr. Kympouropoulos was invited to experience firsthand the transformative power of these solutions.
The center's initiatives also extend to nurturing the next generation of digital talent. It houses the Cisco Networking Academy, STEM and Robotics departments, aimed at enhancing the digital skills of pupils, students, and professionals. These departments offer specialized training tailored to meet the demands of the labor market.
The collaboration of DT&S with local partners, universities, and research institutes ensures a continuous stream of innovative solutions that are relevant and effective. It also fosters an entrepreneurial spirit, providing an incubator-like environment for startups to thrive and develop new digital strategies.
After his visit, Mr. Kympouropoulos expressed his optimism for the role of DT&S in driving the digital transformation in Greece. He acknowledged the potential of such initiatives to significantly contribute to strengthening the European digital landscape.
