On November 29, 2022, the recently assigned Deputy Mayors of Economic and Electronic Governance and other Local Government officials from the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Mr. Michalis Koupkas and Mr. Socratis Dimitriadis, visited the International Center for Digital Transformation and Digital Skills (DT&S) in Thessaloniki. The visit was an opportunity for the Deputy Mayors to learn about the latest advancements in digital technologies and to discuss the role of these technologies in driving economic growth and modernizing the delivery of local government services.
During the visit, the Deputy Mayors were given a tour of the DT&S facility and a presentation on the center's role in promoting innovation, accelerating digital transformation, and improving digital skills and culture in Greece. They were also informed about the center's role as a hub for innovative technological solutions, developed in collaboration with partners, start-ups, educational institutions, and research organizations, with a focus on sectors such as smart cities, health, rural development, tourism, environmental protection, civil protection, and more.
The Deputy Mayors were particularly interested in learning about the center's initiatives in electronic governance and its efforts to modernize government services and make them more accessible and user-friendly for citizens. They were also impressed by the wide range of digital skills training programs offered at the center and the impact these programs are having on the local workforce and the Greek economy.
