Dit document beschrijft hoe u de nieuwste versie van Carrier Routing System (CRS) ROM Monitor Mode (ROMMON) kunt verbeteren zonder dat u de Cisco IOS® XR-software hoeft te upgraden.
Een handmatige upgrade van ROMMON is zelden nodig. In bepaalde gevallen kan het echter het upgradeproces verlichten of een probleem oplossen, zoals corruptie in het veldprogrammeerbaar apparaat (FPD).
Dit kan bijvoorbeeld nodig zijn door Cisco bug-ID CSCuj35602 - PRP ROMMON te ondersteunen bij 511 afbeeldingen die groter zijn dan 360 MB.
Symptom: A CRS PRP (CRS-16-PRP-12G, CRS-16-PRP-6G, CRS-8-PRP-12G, CRS-8-PRP-6G)
running ROMMON version 2.07 or earler does not have support to perform a TFTP
turboboot for images bigger than 360 MB.
Currently the IOS-XR release 5.1.1 and later is bigger than 360 MB, so the ROMMON
must be upgraded to version 2.08 in order to turboboot the 5.1.1 mini.vm file.
When attempting the turboboot via TFTP it will fail with the following error.
TFTP: out of memory. Transfer failed after 377487360 bytes.
TFTP: Operation terminated.
Conditions:
Workaround: Upgrade the ROMMON on the PRPs to version 2.08 manually prior to
the upgrade or upgrade to 5.1.1 without tftp turboboot and then upgrade the
ROMMON to the 2.08. The ROMMON version 2.08 is posted on CDC in the download
section. The ROMMON bundled with release 5.1.1 is version 2.08 so once the
system is running 5.1.1 the ROMMON can be upgraded to version 2.08 using the
admin upgrade hw-module fpd command.

De laatste ROMMON herziening kan van Cisco.com (ROMMON Software) worden gedownload.
Nadat u het tar-bestand hebt gedownload, extraheert u de ROMMON-afbeeldingen ter voorbereiding op het uploaden naar de router.
Kopieert de bin-bestanden naar disk0 of disk1 van de actieve routeprocessor (RP); de harde schijf kan niet worden gebruikt.

De opdracht om ROMMON van een bin-bestand te upgraden is verborgen en gebruikt deze syntaxis:
upgrade [rommonA | rommonB] [all | location <loc>] [disk0 | disk1]
Omdat RommonA de gouden ROMMON back-up is, is het raadzaam om eerst de romonB-lokatie te verbeteren en alleen de romonA te moderniseren nadat u hebt geverifieerd dat de romonB-upgrade correct is uitgevoerd.

Wanneer u de upgrade uitvoert, worden er meerdere syslogberichten afgedrukt. De belangrijkste boodschap is OK, ROMMON B is succesvol geprogrammeerd.

Zet de kaarten die zijn bijgewerkt, opnieuw uit om de nieuwe ROMMON-herziening te kunnen gebruiken.
Na het opnieuw laden, controleer of de upgrade succesvol was met de admin om de opdracht van de module Fpd alle opdracht te tonen voordat u RommonA verbetert.
