Supõe-se que o Cisco Catalyst Center tenha sido usado para provisionar a estrutura SDA com as configurações padrão. Isso significa que a extensão da camada 2 está habilitada e que todo o tráfego dentro da estrutura (na mesma VLAN/VN) é encaminhado com base em consultas de endereço MAC/instância de Ethernet LISP, em vez de consultas de endereço IP/instância de IP LISP.
Do ponto de vista da solução de problemas, pode ser útil configurar entradas ARP estáticas em ambos os hosts para verificar rapidamente se o problema está na conectividade genérica na estrutura (nesse caso, o ping não funciona entre os hosts) ou apenas na resolução ARP.
O processo ARP na estrutura SDA aproveita o LISP para resolver a identificação e a localização dos hosts e é diferente do comportamento ARP em ambientes tradicionais de roteamento/switching.
Etapa 1: O ponto final de malha envia uma solicitação ARP para determinar a associação MAC/IP para o outro ponto final de malha

Etapa 5. O nó de borda envia o pacote de solicitação de mapa LISP para determinar o local RLOC para o endereço MAC
Após a conclusão bem-sucedida das três primeiras etapas, o Edge Node conhece o endereço MAC 10.47.4.3 para o qual o ARP foi inicialmente gerado. Como a extensão da Camada 2 está habilitada, o Edge Node não responde com essa informação para 10.47.4.2, mas sim usa-a para determinar a localização RLOC da Borda do Nó de Saída, para que possa encaminhar ARP para 10.47.4.3 como em uma rede tradicional da Camada 2.
Por esse motivo, o Edge Node gera mais um pacote de solicitação de mapa LISP na instância Ethernet, desta vez solicitando informações RLOC para o endereço MAC de 10.47.4.2:

Todas as etapas relacionadas ao LISP foram necessárias para determinar onde 10.47.4.3 está localizado, de modo que o Edge Node possa enviar o pacote ARP (broadcast) original como unicast para o Edge Node apropriado.
