The default VLAN is the management VLAN, and all untagged frames are implicitly associated with this default VLAN ID. One of your VLANs should be configured as the native. Complete the following steps to configure the VLAN.
- On the navigation menu, click Services to go to the Services Summary window.
- From the expanded Services menu, click the VLAN link to go to the VLAN page.
- In the VLAN ID text field, set a unique VLAN ID number by entering a number between 1 and 4095.
- Determine if you want this VLAN ID to be the native VLAN. Click to check the check box if this VLAN ID should be the default.
- Click to check the check box and enable public secure packet forwarding if you want the protected port to be used for secure mode configuration.
- Click to check which radio you are associating with this VLAN ID.
- In the SSID drop-down list, select a unique SSID to be mapped with this VLAN. If no unique SSIDs are available, choose the <NONE> setting.
- Click the Define SSID link to navigate to the SSID Manager window.
- Click Apply to add the assigned VLAN.
Now that you have completed the configuration of the VLAN, you must set the encryption for the VLAN. Complete the steps below to set the encryption for the VLAN.
- On the navigation menu, select Security to go to the Security Summary window.
- From the expanded Security menu, select Encryption Manager to go to the Encryption Manager window.
- Choose the VLAN you are configuring from the Set Encryption Mode and Keys for VLAN drop-down list. This VLAN drop-down list only appears when you have VLANs enabled. If no VLANs are present, the encryption settings apply to all SSIDs.
- In the Encryption Mode section, determine what encryption, if any, wireless clients should use when communicating with the access point.
- Steps 5 and 6 include steps for static WEP key configuration. If dynamic WEP key encryption is used (LEAP or EAP), only one WEP key (the multicast key) must be configured. If you chose to enable WEP, enter 1 to 4 encryption keys by typing in a 40- or 128-bit key value in the Encryption Key fields. If you chose no encryption, skip to Step 7.
- Determine which encryption key will be used as the transmit key for ongoing access point transmissions.
- Click Apply.
