Use the Web Server page to enable browsing to the web-based management system, specify the location of the Help files, and enter settings for a custom-tailored web system for management.
Web-based Configuration Management
Select Enable Standard (HTTP) Browsing to allow non-secure browsing of the management system. Select Enable Secure (HTTPS) Browsing to allow secure (SSL) browsing of the management system. It is not recommended to select both. Select Disable Web-based Management to prevent browsing of the management system. In this mode, the access point will be accessibly only through the console and Telnet interfaces.
When HTTPS is enabled for the first time, a self-signed certificate is generated and stored in the access point. The certificate is based on your current System Name and Domain Name.
The certificate is presented to the browser on each subsequent access to establish an SSI connection. The certificate may be installed in your browser or it may be approved on each access.
Many browsers display a warning if the hostname and domain name in the certificate do not match those in the URL. To avoid this warning, the System Name and Domain Name must match the Fully Qualified Domain Name instead of an IP address when browsing the access point.
Select Delete Existing SSL Certificate if the System Name or Domain Name has been changed. This generates a new certificate.
System Name (or Host Name)
The name of the system that appears in the titles of management system pages and in the Association page, helping to identify the device on your network. The system name is stored in the self-signed certificate which is used to establish a secure browser connection.
Domain Name
The name of your network's IP domain (such as mycompany.com). The domain name is stored in the self-signed certificate which is used to establish a secure browser connection.
HTTP Port
This setting determines the port through which your device provides non-secure web access. Use the port setting provided by your System Administrator. The default is 80.
HTTPS Port
This setting determines the port through which your device provides secure (SSL) web access. Use the port setting provided by your system administrator. The default is 443.
Help Root URL
Cisco maintains up-to-date HTML help files for access points on the Cisco website. By default, the access point opens a help file on Cisco.com when you click the help button on the access point web-browser interface.
Note: Clearing the URL returns the help file location to the default.
Displays the complete URL for the help files, including the appended version number and model number.
