An SNMP Target refers to both the message sent and the management device to which agent notifications are sent. It is used to inform the user if there are any changes in the network. Each target is identified by target name, IP address, UDP port, and user name. SNMPv3 sends SNMP target notifications as Inform messages to the SNMP Manager rather than traps. This ensures target delivery since traps do not use acknowledge but informs do.
This article explains how to configure Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) targets on WAP121 and WAP321 Access Points which supports SNMPv3 targets.
Note: SNMP User configurations should be completed before the configuration of SNMP targets. To configure SNMPv3 users, refer to the article SNMP User Configuration on the WAP121 and WAP321 Access Points.

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose SNMP > Targets. The Targets page opens:
Step 2. Click Add to add a new SNMP target. A WAP device supports a maximum of eight targets.
Step 3. Check the check box that corresponds to the new target added.
Step 4. Click Edit.
Step 5. Enter the IP address of the remote SNMP manager that is to receive the target in the IP Address field.
Step 6. Enter the UDP Port associated with the target in the UDP Port field. The UDP port is used as a channel for the transmission of data. It ranges from 0 to 65535.
Step 7. Choose the user to associate with the target from the Users drop-down list. A target can be sent to different users with the same IP address and UDP port. This list shows all the users created on the Users page.
Step 8. Click Save.
Step 9. (Optional) To edit an existing target, check the target check box in the SNMPv3 Targets table and click Edit. Make the desired changes and click Save.
Step 10. (Optional) To remove a configured target from the list, check the target check box in the SNMPv3 Targets table and click Delete.
