Installing Cisco Elastic Services Controller on VMware vCloud Director

This chapter describes how to install Cisco Elastic Services Controller on VMware vCloud Director and includes the following sections:

Uploading the ESC OVA file into a Catalog in VMware vCloud Director

Procedure


Step 1

Log in to a vCD organization through a vCD web client.

Step 2

From Catalogs > My Organization's Catalogs, select a catalog.

Step 3

Under the vApp Templates tab, click Upload

The Upload OVF package as a vApp Template window appears.

Step 4

In the OVF package field, click Local file. Click Browse and choose the ESC OVA file from the local system.

Step 5

Click Upload to transfer the ESC OVA file into the catalog.

After uploading the ESC OVA file, you can access the ESC vApp template from the catalog.


Deploying ESC vApp on vCD Web Client

This section describes the deployment scenario for Elastic Services Controller (ESC) and the procedure to deploy ESC vApp on VMware vCloud Director (vCD).

Resources such as organization, organization VDC, and so on must be created on vCD before deployment. For more information, see the Managing Resources on vCloud Director (vCD).

To deploy ESC vApp on vCD web client, you must:

Step 1

Log in to a vCD organization through a vCD web client.

Step 2

From Catalogs > My Organization's Catalogs, select a Catalog.

Step 3

Select the ESC vApp template, right click and select Add to My Cloud.

Step 4

To complete the deployment, you must specify the following in the Add to My Cloud wizard:

  1. Select Name and Location- Specify ESC as the name of the vApp and select its virtual datacenter.

  2. Configure Resources- Specify ESC as the VM name and SharedOnly for storage policy.

  3. Network Mapping- Specify interface(s) network type as MgtNetwork,SvcNetwork, andVnfNetwork. IP allocation is Static-Manualfor all types of network in an IPv4.

  4. Custom Properties- Fill in the custom properties for day(0) operation.Note: Do not fill or change anything in the VM Settings of vCenter Server section.

  5. Customize Hardware- Specify CPU use, memory consumption, and other core parameters.

  6. Ready to Complete- Check the Power on vApp after this wizard is finishedon the bottom right corner of the wizard and click Finish.


Adding the VIM Connectors

Adding Self-Signed Certificate

If the vCD instance is using a self-signed certificate, use the following command to add the certificate into ESC, so that it qualifies the SSL verification:
$ escadm truststore add --help
