Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System
This appendix contains the following sections:
•Overview
•Limits on a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System
•Installing a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with the Default License File
•Installing a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with a Time-Limited License File
•Converting a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System to a Standard System
Overview
A demonstration system is a fully functioning version of Cisco Unity Connection that has the limits noted in the "Limits on a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System" section. A demonstration system uses one of two different license files:
•The default license file, which is available on the Connection server.
•A time-limited license file, which must be ordered from Cisco.
Caution Cisco Unity Connection must be installed on a server that is listed in the
Cisco Unity Connection Supported Platforms List at
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6509/products_data_sheets_list.html. If the server is not supported, Cisco Unity Connection Setup will fail.
Because a demonstration system is a fully functioning Cisco Unity Connection system, installing a demonstration system requires the same level of care and attention to detail that is required of installing a system on a customer site. To successfully install a demonstration system, refer to the instructions in the Cisco Unity Connection Installation Guide and in the integration guide for your phone system.
Cisco TAC does not provide support for a Cisco Unity Connection demonstration system.
Order software for a demonstration system by using the same source you normally use to purchase Cisco products. The part number is UNITYCN1-DEMO.
To install the demonstration system, see the applicable section, depending on which license file you are using:
•Installing a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with the Default License File
•Installing a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with a Time-Limited License File
See also the "Converting a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System to a Standard System" section, if applicable.

Installing a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with the Default License File
The default license file (CUCDemo.lic) is automatically copied to the Cisco Unity Connection server during installation.
To Install a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with the Default License File
Step 1 Install Cisco Unity Connection as described in the Cisco Unity Connection Installation Guide until you reach the "Configuring Cisco Unity Connection Software (Connection Server Only)" section.
Step 2 While you are completing the Cisco Unity Connection Configuration Assistant according to the documentation, you are prompted to install license files. On the partition where Cisco Unity Connection was installed (drive G by default), in the Licenses directory, use the file CUCDemo.lic.
Step 3 Complete the installation as described in the Cisco Unity Connection Installation Guide.
Installing a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with a Time-Limited License File
This section contains three procedures. Do them in the order listed to obtain a time-limited license file and to install a Cisco Unity Connection demonstration system.
To Get the MAC Address of the Cisco Unity Connection Computer
Step 1 On the computer where Cisco Unity Connection will be installed, on the Windows Start menu, click Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
Step 2 In the Command Prompt window, enter ipconfig /all, and press Enter.
Step 3 Write down the value for Physical Address, excluding the hyphens (for example, if the physical address is 00-A1-B2-C3-D4-E5, record 00A1B2C3D4E5), or save it to a file that you can access during online registration.
If the server contains more than one NIC, one value will appear for each NIC. Use the value for the primary NIC.
Step 4 Close the command prompt window.
To Register and Obtain a Time-Limited License File
Step 1 Go to http://www.cisco.com/go/license (URLs are case sensitive). You must have an account on Cisco.com to access the license website.
Step 2 In the Voice Products section, under Cisco Unity Software, click 1.1 Demo License.
Step 3 Enter the requested information, and click Submit.
Step 4 You will receive an e-mail with the Cisco Unity Connection license file.
To Install the Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System with the Time-Limited License File
Use the time-limited license file that you received after you did the preceding procedure, "To Register and Obtain a Time-Limited License File."
Step 3 Complete the installation as described in the Cisco Unity Connection Installation Guide.
Converting a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System to a Standard System
Do the following procedure after you have ordered and received the license file for a standard Cisco Unity Connection system.
To Convert a Cisco Unity Connection Demonstration System to a Standard System
Step 1 Log on to Windows by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
Step 2 On the Windows desktop, double-click the Connection Administration icon.
Step 3 In Cisco Unity Connection Administration, expand System Settings, then click Licenses.
Step 4 On the Search License page, click Add New.
Step 5 On the Add New License page, click Browse, and browse to the location of the new license file.
(When Cisco Unity Connection was registered on Cisco.com, Cisco replied with an e-mail containing an attached file with licenses for Cisco Unity Connection features. The instructions in the e-mail directed that the attached file be saved.)
Step 6 In the Choose File dialog box, double-click the name of the file.
Step 7 On the Add New License page, click Submit.
Step 8 If you have more than one new license file, repeat Step 4 through Step 7 until you have added all of the new license files.
Step 9 On the Search License page, uncheck the check box for CUCDemo.lic or for the time-limited license file.
Step 10 Check the check box(es) for the license file(s) that you added in Step 4 through Step 7.
Step 11 Click Install Selected.
Step 12 In the Windows task bar, right-click the Cisco Unity Connection tray icon, and click Restart > Cisco Unity Connection.
Step 13 If you are not adding voice ports, you are finished converting a demonstration system to a standard system.
If you are adding voice ports, provide additional ports for the Cisco Unity Connection system. The way you provide additional ports depends on the type of phone system integration you have:
Cisco CallManager 3.3. integration
|
a. In Cisco CallManager Administration, add the ports to the voice mail server that the Cisco Unity Connection server uses. Refer to the applicable Cisco CallManager Administration Guide.
b. For the new ports, set the Forward Busy and Forward No Answer fields so that incoming calls are forwarded only to ports that will answer calls. Refer to the procedure "To Set Up Voice Mail Ports So Incoming Calls Are Forwarded Only to Answering Ports" in the Cisco CallManager 3.3 Integration Guide for Cisco Unity Connection.
|
Cisco CallManager 4.x. or 5.x integration through SCCP
