Disposition of Events (by Severity Level)
When a severity level is selected, all higher-priority
severity levels are also selected.
Display on Event Log
Determine for each severity level whether you want
the event displayed on the event log by placing a check mark in
the check box. Events displayed on the event log are available on
the event log page.
Notify via SNMP/Syslog
Trap
Determine for each severity level whether you
want to be notified by an SNMP/Syslog trap when the event occurs.
The notification occurs when a check mark appears in the check box.
Record for SNMP/Syslog
History Table
Determine for each severity level whether you
want to record the event in the SNMP/Syslog history table. The event
is recorded when a check mark appears in the check box.
Display on Telnet/SSH
Monitor
Determine for each severity level whether you
want to display the event on the Telnet/SSH monitor. The event displays
on the monitor when a check mark appears in the check box.
Time Stamp Format for Future Events
Choose the time format in which you want the
event time stamp information saved. The three supported time stamp
formats are as follows:
- System Uptime
- The length of time the system was operational when the event
occurred. Initially, this time is displayed as number of seconds,
growing to minutes, days, and weeks. For example, 1w0d represents
1 week and 0 days.
- Global Standard Time
- The time of day the event occurred
in UTC time recorded as Month dd hh:mm:ss.usec and 3-letter time
zone (UTC). The system clock must be set for this time stamp to
work.
- Local Time -
The time of day the event occurred in the local time zone recorded
as Month DD hh:mm:ss.usec and 3-letter time zone. The system clock
must be set for this time stamp to work.
Event Log Size
Determine the size of the buffer you want established
for logging commands. The more memory you assign to the log, the
less memory that is available to route packets.
History Table Size
Determine the maximum number of syslog messages
that you want stored in the router's history table.
