The main Setup page consists solely of links for system setup,
configuration, and performance information.
Settings
Links to the Express Setup page,
which contains fields and menus for all basic settings. The Express
Setup page is the appropriate page for making changes in most typical
network applications.
Associations
This section links to display and filter pages for associated
stations.
Display Defaults -- Links to
the Association Table
Filters page.
Address Filters -- Links to
the Address Filters page. On
this page you can choose to allow or disallow the forwarding of
packets containing specific MAC addresses.
Port Assignments -- Links to the Port
Assignments page, which is used to assign a specific network
port to non-root bridges or repeater access points.
Protocol Filters -- Links to the Protocol
Filters Setup page, which is a starting point for creating Ethertype,
IP Protocol, and IP Port filters. From this page you can also
access the Policy Groups page, DSCP-to-CoS Conversion page, and
the Quality of Service page.
VLAN -- Links to the VLAN
Setup page, which is the starting point for configuring the
access point to connect to VLANs on the wired network.
Advanced -- Links to the Association
Table Advanced page. This page controls the number of devices
the access point or bridge displays in the Association Table and
the amount of time the access point or bridge continues to track
each device type when a device is inactive.
Service Sets -- Links to the
AP Radio Service Sets page, which is the starting point for
creating SSIDs on the access point.
SSIDs -- Choosing either Int
or Mod links to the AP
Radio: Internal/Module Service Sets page where you can create
multiple SSIDs.
Event Log
This section links to pages for setting up event parameters and
monitoring system events.
Display Defaults -- Links to the Event
Display Setup page. This page allows you to determine how
time should be displayed on the event log. In addition, you can
determine what severity levels of events appear in event displays.
Event Handling
-- Links to the Event Handling
page. This page allows you to determine how the device handles
the different fatal, alert, warning, and information events, should
they occur.
Notifications -- Links to the Event
Notifications Setup page. You use this page to enable and
configure notification of fatal, alert, warning, and information
events to destinations external to the device, such as an SNMP
server or a Syslog system.
Services
This section links to a range of pages for setting up system
features and support services.
Console/Telnet -- Links to the Console/Telnet
Setup page. This page contains the settings necessary to
access both the console port of the device and to access the device
through Telnet. All software functions that show on browser pages
can also be accessed and operated on the console screens and Telnet.
If browser control should be unavailable for any reason, console
access can provide an alternative means of administration.
Boot Server
-- Links to the Boot Server Setup
page. This page configures the device to the Ethernet network's
BOOTP or DHCP servers for automatic assignment of IP addresses.
Name Server -- Links to the
Name Server Setup page. This page configures this device to
work with your network's Domain Name System (DNS) server. DNS
provides direct correspondence between IP addresses and domain
names.
Web Server --
Links to the Web Server Setup
page. This page specifies the location of the software help files
and also supports web server setup for users who have custom-tailored
web systems for control of devices.
Time Server
-- Links to the Time Server Setup
page. This page synchronizes this device with the network's time
server, or allows you to manually set the time.
FTP -- Links to the FTP
Server page. This page configures File Transfer Protocol including
the selection between FTP and TFTP plus entry of name, password,
and default file server.
SNMP -- Links to the SNMP
Setup page. This page configures the device to work with the
network administrator's Simplified Network Management Protocol
station.
Cisco
Services -- Links to the Cisco
Services Setup page. This page allows you to administer system
configuration and update firmware.
Routing
-- Links to the Routing Setup
page. This page configures the device to communicate with the
IP network routing system.
Security
-- Links to the Security Setup
page. This page sets up network security including names, passwords,
and capability levels. It is only used when VLANs are disabled.
Accounting -- Links to the Accounting
Setup page. This page allows you to enable accounting on the
access point to send network accounting information about wireless
client devices to a RADIUS server on your network.
Mobile IP -- Links to the Mobile
IP Setup screen. This feature is not yet implemented.
Network Ports
Diagnostics -- Links you to the Network
Diagnostics page where you can choose the diagnostic test
you want to run. The bottom section of the page provides links
to configure and adjust network ports. The Ethernet and AP/Root
Radio rows each identify one network port on the device. These
are generally the Ethernet (wired) port and the AP/Root Radio
port. For each port, three setup pages are available: Identification,
Hardware, and Advanced.
Ethernet -- Specifies the
type of connector used by the port. The Identification,
Hardware, Filters,
and Advanced links in the Ethernet
row allow you to adjust Ethernet settings.
AP Radio(Internal/External/Module) -- Sets
a range of values, specifications, and data rates for the radio
port of the device. The Identification,
Hardware, Filters,
and Advanced links in the AP/Root
Radio row allow you to adjust wireless LAN adapter client settings.
The Advanced link enables MAC
address filtering on the internal radio.
Identification -- Settings for basic
port location and identity information, such as the IP address
of the port.
Hardware -- For Ethernet, the Hardware
page allows an administrator to select the Ethernet speed. For
the radio port, the Hardware page provides a wide variety of
operating settings for network tuning.
Filters -- These filters prevent
or allow the use of specific protocols through the device. You
can create and enable protocol filters for the radio or Ethernet
ports.
Advanced -- Enables MAC authentication
on one or both of the access point radios. Changes the operational
status of the port. As an aid in troubleshooting network problems,
setting options on this page can be helpful in making temporary
changes in device status.
