Migrate LineCard Configuration

This chapter provides information about how to migrate linecard configuration when the linecard is replaced.

Migrating linecard configuration to another linecard on replacement

You can migrate the line card configration while replacing another line card. This enables no loss of line card configurations.


Note

  • Ensure the linecards are of the same switching module. For example, replace the old 48 port linecard with another new 48 port linecard only.

  • Few of the configurations migrated are VSAN on ports, port descriptions, buffer credits, port speed and so on.

Procedure

Step 1

switch# migrate configuration linecard module

Displays the valid linecard modules
migrate configuration linecard 

Valid modules are as shown below

Step 2

Enter the module number for the migrated or replaced linecard and press Enter.

Successfully collected the configuration details of module 1 (DS-X9448-768K9) in file bootflash:module_config.cfg.

Step 3

Remove the switching module and replace with a new switching module and press Enter.

Remove module 1 (DS-X9448-768K9) , replace it with the new module and press enter

Step 4

Type y to confirm the replacement of the new switching module and press Enter.
